Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 12,100, followed by Maharashtra with 9,336 cases, Tamil Nadu with 3,867 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 3,175 cases and Odisha with 2,870 cases

A total of 39,796 new covid-19 cases and 723 fatalities were reported on Sunday as per the latest data shared by the Union Health Ministry. The country's active COVID-19 count has now declined to 4.82 lakh.

The Health Ministry stated that the national weekly positivity rate is currently at 2.40 per cent, whereas, the daily positivity rate stands at 2.61 per cent.

Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 12,100, followed by Maharashtra with 9,336 cases, Tamil Nadu with 3,867 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 3,175 cases and Odisha with 2,870 cases.

These five states accounted for 78.78 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Sunday, with Kerala alone responsible for 30.41 per cent of the fresh infections.

The number of reported daily deaths in the country was the lowest since March, with 723 fatalities reported in the last 24 hours. This takes the total tally of Covid-related deaths to 4,02,728.

Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (306), followed by Kerala with 76 deaths in the last 24 hours.
