India records highest Covid-19 cases in 152 days

The COVID-19 death toll has increased to 5,30,848 with seven latest fatalities -- three reported by Maharashtra, one by Karnataka and three reconciled by Kerala

According to data from the Union health ministry, India's coronavirus cases broke the 2000 barrier once more after 152 days since October of last year. The nation reported 2,151 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active coronavirus cases to 11,903.

The country recorded 2,208 cases in a single day on October 28 last year.

The daily positivity rate stands at 1.51 per cent. The COVID-19 death toll has increased to 5,30,848 with seven latest fatalities -- three reported by Maharashtra, one by Karnataka and three reconciled by Kerala.

The statistics was updated at 8 am, and PTI reported that the weekly positivity was 1.53 percent and the daily positivity was 1.51 percent.

4.47 crore Covid instances were reported as a whole. According to the ministry website, the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.78%, and the active cases currently make up 0.03 percent of all infections.

1.19 percent was the reported case fatality rate.
