DRDO scientist arrested in Rohini court blast case

During interrogation, the scientist admitted before the police that he wanted to kill the lawyer and therefore he planted the IED

Just a few days after a low-intensity blast inside the Rohini district court, the Delhi Police today arrested a scientist for allegedly planting a tiffin bomb to kill a lawyer who was supposed to attend a court hearing there.

On December 9, a low-intensity explosion took place at Rohini district court. A police personnel was injured in the incident.

According to sources, the person arrested is a serving scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), which is charged with researching and developing for the military.

Officials said three points of evidence point to the accused in the case. First is the CCTV footage that showed him twice on screen, once with a bag, suspected to carry the explosives, and the second time without it.

During interrogation, the scientist admitted before the police that he wanted to kill the lawyer and therefore he planted the IED.

So far, only the scientist's name has cropped up in the police investigation. Further investigation is underway.
