The 32-year-old woman who was raped in Mumbai's Saki Naka area has died during treatment, the Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar confirmed on Saturday.

The crime took place in the early hours of Friday at Khairani Road in Saki Naka area of Mumbai. The accused first raped the woman and then brutalized her with an iron rod.

Senior cops from Mumbai Police reached the Rajawadi Hospital, Ghatkopar.

The Mumbai Police got the CCTV footage of the heinous crime which confirmed that the woman was brutally raped. After the assault, the accused put her in a tempo and fled the crime scene. A passerby later found the woman unconscious and in a pool of blood and informed the police.

Based on the CCTV footage, the police arrested the 45-year-old accused under Section 376 (Punishment for rape) and 307 (Attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police also suspect more people could be involved in the crime.
