Famous wrestler Sushil Kumar faced another setback as he was suspended from his job with the Indian Railways until further notice. The decision comes after Sushil was arrested on Sunday in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old wrestler, Sagar Rana in Delhi.
Sushil Kumar was sent to 6-day police custody along with his associate Ajay Kumar. He was nabbed after being on the run for close to a fortnight in Delhi's Mundka on Sunday.
A senior commercial manager with the Northern Railway, Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar was posted by the Delhi government as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Chhatrasal Stadium for the development of sports at the school level.
"Sushil Kumar was detained in police custody on May 23, 2021 for a period exceeding forty-eight hours. Now, therefore Sushil Kumar JAG/ (Adhoc) IRTS is deemed to have been suspended with effect from the date of detention i.e. 23rd May, 2021 in terms of Rule 5 (2) of (D&A) Rules, 1968 and shall remain under suspension until further orders," a statement from the Northern Railways said.
