The first ever Champions of Change Haryana award was held on Sunday, 02 October 2022 at Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh. His Excellency Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Hon’ble Governor of Haryana graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and felicitated the awardees.

Cricketer Virender Sehwag through video conferencing said that, “I thank Sh Bandaru Dattatreya ji, Sh Manohar Lal Khattar ji and the jury committee headed by Justice KG Balakrishnan ji after being awarded with the prestigious Champion of Change Haryana award. I also want to thank the Chairman of Champions of Change committee and IFIE Sh Nandan Jha and his team for this appreciation. Haryana is a state which has given the country so many sportspersons and I am one of them. I feel immensely proud to be a part of this occasion as I belong to Haryana. The way Haryana has supported it’s sportsmen, I don’t think any other state has done.”

Olympics Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra said, “I thank Hon’ble Governor Sh Dattatreya, Chief Minister Khattar ji and all the jury for selecting me for this prestigious award. I also want to thank the Chairman of Champions of Change committee and IFIE Sh Nandan Jha for this award. I also want to congratulate all the deserving awardees for this event. Due to some reasons, I regret not being part of the event but my parents are right at the event and I hope they are thoroughly satisfied”.

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya in his address said that Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has dedicated his entire life to the service of society and in the last eight years, he has worked with transparency. He added that he has been a pioneer in establishing good governance in the state. A new era has ushered in. Revolutionary step to curb corruption and ensure the benefits of the government schemes to the last person standing in a queue in a transparent manner is highly commendable. He added that in a true sense the Chief Minister has fulfilled the dream of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay.

Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that today is a day of pride for us and the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy is also doing commendable work in last few years. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that the progressive farmer who will make ten farmers like himself will be honoured with the Champion of Change Award next year. The Chief Minister said that some people come to politics to enjoy power, but they have entered politics with the spirit of public service and in the future, more new schemes will be made to increase the ease of living and happiness index of the people of the state.

Manohar Lal Khattar is the tenth and current chief minister of Haryana. He was a pracharak of the RSS before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He represents Haryana Legislative Assembly on behalf of the Karnal district. Khattar instructed to hire 500 female constables and have an all-female police station in every district. Additionally, he created the 24/7 Harsamay portal, which allows anyone to submit an online complaint. The government of Manohar Lal Khattar has made headlines for taking action to carry out the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana initiative, which was launched by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Since he took office, Haryana's children gender ratio has improved. There are currently 889 girls for every 1,000 boys. In a public announcement, Khattar stated that "efforts are being undertaken to further take it (child gender ratio) to above 900." He also started ‘Jan Sahayak-Aapka Sahayak’ which would be a single digital platform having necessary information about various government services and has been involved in various social initiatives.

Kartikeya Sharma in his speech said, “Change begins at home, and goes from one generation to another. Progress is impossible without change. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also brought many changes with ban on Triple Talaq, abrogation of Article 370, and Swachh Bharat Mission.” He also added, “Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar has also brought many changes by focusing on good governance, transparency and high-tech education. Today is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Let me remind you on this occasion that the Chief Minister also fought for the independence of the country and always fought for change in the state.”

Champions of Change is an Indian award, for promoting Gandhian values, (Swachata), community service and social development (in Aspirational district in India), selected by constitutional jury members headed by K.G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India and Former Chairman NHRC along with Former Judge of Supreme Court of India. Champions of Change Telangana award is a state version of Champions of change national award.

IFIE annually organizes Champions of Change Award at International, National and state-Level in India and it is usually presented by thePresident, Vice-President, Governor or a leading figure of India. Mr. Nandan Jha is the founder and Chairman of Champions of Change Award.
