South Indian actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu was honoured with the Champions of Change Telangana award for her exceptional contribution in the field of culture and social welfare. Justice KG Balakrishnan, Former CJI and Former Chairman, NHRC felicitated her with the award.
The first ever Champions of Change Telangana Award was held on 25 February 2022 at Taj Deccan- Kohinoor Hall in Hyderabad, Telangana. Eminent personalities from the state of Telangana were honoured for their immense contribution towards the society.
Some of the other esteemed personalities who were felicitated at the award cermony were Gastroenterologist and Padma Bhushan awardee Dr Nageswar Reddy, Badminton champion and Padma Bhushan PV Sindhu, Member of Telangana Legislative Assembly Pilot Rohith Reddy and Telugu actor Allu Arjun.
Samantha is a top actress and model who appears in Tamil and Telugu films. Born to Malayali and Telugu parents, Samantha was brought up in Tamil Nadu and pursued a career in modeling during her late teens.
Samantha's first release was Indira Productions' Gautham Menon directed, Ye Maaya Chesave. The film, a simultaneous remake of the Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, created much hype prior to its release, primarily due to the successful soundtrack of A. R. Rahman. She got the Filmfare award for the Best Debut Actress for this movie in both languages (Tamil & Telugu). She has appeared in over 45 films. She is a recipient of several awards, including four Filmfare Awards, two Nandi Awards, six South Indian International Movie Awards, and three CMA Awards.
Samantha is a prominent celebrity endorser for brands and products. At the same time, she also started her own NGO, Pratyusha Support, to provide medical support for women and children in 2012. She donates her earnings from endorsements, product launches and inauguration events to support the foundation.
Champions of Change is an Indian award, for promoting Gandhian values, (Swachata), community service and social development (in Aspirational district in India), selected by constitutional jury members headed by K.G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India and Former Chairman NHRC along with Former Judge of Supreme Court of India. Champions of Change Telangana award is a state version of Champions of change national award.
