The first ever Champions of Change Madhya Pradesh Award was held on 12 April 2022 at Kushabhau Thakre Hall in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). Eminent personalities from the state of Madhya Pradesh were honoured for their immense contribution towards the society. Hon’ble Governor of Madhya Sh Mangubhai Patel felicitated the awardees.
The program was presided over by well-known journalists Dr. Ved Pratap Vaidik and Dayakar Ratakonda (former Indian diplomat) as advisors and members of the award selection committee, and the program was presided over by Dr. Ved Pratap Vaidik. Devendra Pratap Singh Tomar, General Secretary, IFIE.
Syed Zafar Islam, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha was also felicitated with the Champions of Change Madhya Pradesh award for outstanding contribution towards social welfare.
Syed Zafar Islam is the national spokesperson of the Bhartiya Janata Party. Islam is a former investment banker and the former Managing director at Deutsche Bank. He is regarded as one of the prominent Muslim leaders of the party.
Syed Zafar Islam was influenced by Narendra Modi's politics and joined the BJP on 5 April 2014 after resigning as director of Deutsche Bank, India. He was made the National Spokesperson of the party. In 2017, he was appointed as a non-official independent director of Air India by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
A close friend of Jyotiraditya Scindia, Zafar is believed to have helped Scindia shift to the BJP from the congress in 2020 and topple the elected Madhya Pradesh Congress government of Kamal Nath. He also writes opinion pieces on politics and economic affairs in several national newspapers. He has been involved in a lot of social work including providing ration kits and other useful items to the needy during the recent coronavirus pandemic.
Other notable winners of Champions of Change Madhya Pradesh Award include Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Former Governor of UP and Mizoram Dr Aziz Qureshi, Music performer Padma Vibhushan Teejan Bai, Mayor of Indore Malini Laxmansingh Gaur, Indian actress Divyanka Tripathi , Indian film actor and lyricist Piyush Mishra and BJP leader Vikram Verma.
Champions of Change is an Indian award, for promoting Gandhian values, (Swachata), community service and social development (in Aspirational district in India), selected by constitutional jury members headed by K.G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India and Former Chairman NHRC along with Former Judge of Supreme Court of India. Champions of Change Telangana award is a state version of Champions of change national award.
IFIE annually organizes Champions of Change Award at International, National and state-Level in India and it is usually presented by the President, Vice-President, Governor or a leading figure of India. Mr. Nandan Jha is the founder and Chairman of Champions of Change Award.
