Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Monday for her yearly routine check-up.

The 63-year-old has reportedly been admitted to a private ward of the hospital. She was taken to the hospital at around 12 noon today. According to sources, the finance minister will leave most likely post lunch.

On February 1, 2023, Sitharaman is slated to deliver the Union Budget. On Friday, the minister gave a hint that her upcoming budget will "follow the spirit" of prior ones by saying that it would "continue to boost growth on the back of public spending."

She presided over the virtual pre-Budget consultation meetings for Budget 2023–24 from November 21–28.

The minister stated last week that the government closely monitors inflation to prevent a spike in costs.
