Local Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Prem Sharma was arrested on Monday for allegedly organising the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Saturday without requisite permission. He was later released on bail.
Nine people were injured after communal clashes had broken out in Jahangirpuri during the procession on Saturday evening.
On Tuesday, in an exclusive interview with India Today, VHP leader Prem Sharma said that permission had been obtained from the police to organise the shobha yatra on Saturday. Additionally, he alleged that a Hindu idol and the Indian flag were damaged during the clash.
