Presidency of the G-20 – An Unprecedented Opportunity for Global Leadership

India has been given the responsibility of leading the G20 group of countries at a time when the whole world is going through the after effects of a once in a century disruptive pandemic, conflicts and a lot of economic uncertainties due to which many countries are facing high Inflation, shortage of food, fertilizer and energy, unemployment, economic disparity etc.

In the midst of worldwide instability, economic disparity and adversity, on December 1, India took over the presidency of the G-20 group. The G-20 is the world's most successful organization whose members account for two-thirds of the world's population, 85 percent of global gross product, 75 percent of international trade, and 80 percent of global investment in development. Becoming the President of such a strong and effective organization is an important sign of India's emergence as an important country on the global scene.

Apart from this, other challenges like climate change, terrorism, nuclear proliferation etc. are continuously destabilizing the global economy and community. It can be said that Bharat has received the crown of thorns. But if the challenge is big then the opportunity is equally big. Today the whole world is looking towards India. The manner in which India has been able to overcome the Covid-generated adversity on the strength of its bold and visionary leadership and prudent policies, is astonishing to the whole world.

Owing to its impressive performance in dealing with the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, India has emerged as a beacon of hope in a dark and gloomy global scenario. While many of the world's major economies including the G-20 are grappling with inflation, declining productivity, rising unemployment and fears of an impending recession, the Indian economy is marching ahead strongly.

The stock market is at its highest levels. Startup culture is spreading in small towns as well, investments are pouring in from all sides. The country has huge reserves of foreign exchange. Indian entrepreneurs and professionals spread across the globe are scaling new heights of success. The world is bewildered, it wants to know what is the magic in Indian leadership that even such adverse circumstances could not stop India's progress.

In the time of covid-19, India not only took care of its countrymen and freed them from Corona, but also saved many countries of the world from the epidemic by providing vaccines through vaccine friendship. This was the world form of India which was seen and appreciated by the whole world. The concept of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', which we have always been living by, has been realized by India and not only has India shown unprecedented success in the field of economic and health, but has also set new paradigms in international diplomacy under the leadership of the eminent Prime Minister Narendra Modi. . Where today the whole world seems to be divided into different camps, India has become such a country that either everyone has friends or those who are not, want to be.

Two arch enemies like Russia and America, consider India as their close friend. On the other hand, Israel and the countries of the Arab League may be against each other, but both of them are good friends of India. Today the powerful group of G-20 has got such miraculous leadership of India. Undoubtedly, not only the countries of G-20 but the whole world is looking towards India today.

Last month, in his monthly radio address 'Mann Ki Baat', P.M. asked the country to make use of this opportunity. He said that we should focus on the global good. The chairmanship of G-20 has come as a great opportunity for us. We should make full use of this opportunity and focus on global welfare and world welfare. Be it peace or unity, sensitivity to environment or sustainable development, India has solutions to the challenges. The theme we have given of One Earth, One Family, One Future reflects our commitment to 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'.

During the next one year, there will be 200 meetings of G-20 countries in the country, which will be thoughtfully organized in 50 different cities of the country. These big and small cities will be selected from every direction of the country. In this way, India will have a great opportunity to present our culture and heritage to the world. Our journey of thousands of years is connected behind this incarnation of 'Vishwa Swaroop' India, infinite experiences are connected. This will be an amazing opportunity to share all of them with the world.
