In a case lodged against him for allegedly inflaming religious feelings in the Sitapur region of Uttar Pradesh, the Supreme Court on Tuesday extended Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair's provisional bail till further orders. On September 7, there will be another hearing.
Zubair's senior attorney Colin Gonsalves stated that the Supreme Court's vacation bench had recently granted him temporary bail and that they would like to file a response to the counter affidavit that the state government would be filing.
The State government, represented by Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, stated that it intends to respond to Zubair's request to have the FIR filed in the matter quashed.
The Uttar Pradesh government was instructed to submit its response within four weeks after the bench listed the case for final hearing on September 7.
