The leaders of Maharashtra are making a ruckus about a statement given by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Koshyari, while addressing a gathering of Marwaris, had said that if Marwari and Gujarati traders were removed, Mumbai would no longer be the financial capital of the country.
What is wrong with this statement of Koshyari? He has just said what is a well-known fact. He did not say anything which is derogatory or objectionable about the Marathas and South Indians of Maharashtra. He has done the good of Maharashtra by patting on the back of Marwari and Gujarati Seths of Mumbai. The Seths will not feel that they are a burden on Maharashtra. Koshyari's statement will make them a little more exblockquoted.
As far as Marathi speaking people are concerned, he did not utter a single word that would insult or devalue them. While all the leaders of the party and opposition criticized his statement, he made it clear that his meaning was being distorted. He is a fan of Marathi people's contribution but just see how all the leaders of Maharashtra are behaving. The leaders of all parties like BJP, Shiv Sena, Congress etc. have either termed the statement of the Governor as wrong or strongly condemned it.
Every leader has slipped into the greed of pleasing Marathi-speaking voters. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also broke his silence. No one dared to give a befitting reply to Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the half-hearted Shiv Sena. Thackeray has violated all the norms of decency. He has said that this is the time to show 'Kolhapuri Chappal' to the Governor. We have never heard such a stupid statement from any leader till date. It cannot be imagined that a person who has been the Chief Minister of Maharashtra would use such words for an elderly governor.
He also accused Governor Koshyari of being a 'savvy man'. He said that for the last three years, Koshyari is eating the salt of Maharashtrians and still condemning them. He also said that Koshiyari is creating enmity between Marathi and non-Marathi people and he should be fired or sent to jail. What are all these toxic sentences telling? That is Uddhav Thackeray's desperation is at its peak. He is shaking his empty rattles with all his might.
What can Marathi-Manus do apart from laughing at him after hearing his statement? Now if they want, they can also run a campaign to drive Marwaris and Gujaratis out of Maharashtra, but why will the Marathi people listen to the anger of the Thackeray family sitting in the lap of Congress and Sharad Pawar Congress? The people of Maharashtra know that if the Thackeray family starts such a campaign, then lakhs of people will become unemployed in many cities of Maharashtra.
