Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari was on 22nd June appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, the Law Ministry said.
Justice Sanjay Yadav, the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, demits office on June 25. He was appointed as the Chief Justice earlier this month.
Justice Bhandari, the senior-most judge of the High Court, is to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice with effect from June 26, 2021 consequent upon the retirement of Justice Yadav as Chief Justice, a notification issued by the Department of Justice said.
Justice Bhandari was appointed as Judge of the High Court of Rajasthan High Court on Jul 5, 2007 and he was transferred to Allahabad High Court and took oath as Judge on March 15, 2019.
He practised in the Rajasthan High Court at Jodhpur and Jaipur, Central Administrative Tribunal, Jaipur and initially in Supreme Court in Constitutional, Civil, Service, Labour, Criminal and Arbitration matters and specialised in Constitutional, Service, Labour & Arbitration matters.
He was Standing Counsel for Railways; Rajasthan Road Transport Corporation; Nuclear Power Corporation; State Election Commission; Rajasthan University; all Government Electricity Companies of Rajasthan; Jaipur Development Authority; Jaipur Municipal Corporation; Rajasthan Housing Board; Ganga Nagar Sugar Mills Ltd.; Rajasthan Agricultural University.
Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari, B.Com. LLB, was enrolled as an Advocate on 29thMay, 1983. He practiced in the Rajasthan High Court, Central Administrative Tribunal, Supreme Court in Constitutional, Civil, Service, Labour, Criminal and Arbitration matters and specialized in Constitutional, Service, Labour & Arbitration matters. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on July 5, 2007 and as Permanent Judge on November 4, 2008.
