Amit Banerjee is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of BEML Limited, a Miniratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence. The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), the organisation responsible for making top-level appointments in PSUs, has picked Banerjee for the post of CMD of BEML Limited on April 26.

Banerjee is currently serving as Director (Rail & Metro Business) in the same organisation. Since the superannuation of former BEML CMD DK Hota on January 31, BEML Limited's Director (Mining & Construction) MV Rajasekhar has been holding the additional charge of the CMD's post.

Banerjee has been selected for the post of CMD of BEML from a list of two candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. The other candidate was from NMDC Limited. Prior to his current assignment, Banerjee was serving as Executive Director (Rail & Metro) in the company.
