As the row over Lakhimpur Kheri violence escalated, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi asked, "Why is the minister's son not arrested? How are they Rashtravadi when they are crushing the farmers?"
She added the BJP has no grounds to remain in power.
She said, "Violence is violence. I have witnessed a lot in my life. Whatever happened is wrong, be it with farmers or someone else. They (farmers) were protesting peacefully and this mantri's son came and crushed them. People got angry."
Taking a dig at Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav, she said, "Have you seen Mayawati, Mulayam on the ground? Akhilesh? Where was he? It's Congress that is on the ground."
Speaking on the farm laws, Priyanka Gandhi criticised the Modi government. She said, "The government is not agreeing to the fact that farmers want to get the laws repealed. They went all out to meet a president in videsh (abroad). Have you ever seen them meeting people (here)?
