Supreme Court to hear Chidambaram plea against ED on 27 August

Earlier Supreme Court dismissed Chidambaram plea seeking anticipatory bail in case registered by CBI, saying that he has been already arrested and the case has become infructuous.

Supreme Court has said that earlier protection granted from arrest to Congress leader P Chidambaram shall continue till tomorrow. Meanwhile P Chidambaram is being brought to Rouse Avenue Court from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters.

Kapil Sibbal argued that the paragraphs in the HC judgement were a verbatim copy of CBI/ ED note, "comma by comma, full stop by full stop, word by word, sentence by sentence." Their note became findings of the court. Where is the application of mind by the judge?" he said. In response, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said he doesn't know from where they got this note as it wasn't in their records.
