Minister of Road & Highways Nitin Gadkari has again waded into controversy by making a comment that has been construed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gadkari said, “Political leaders who sell dreams to people but failed to make them in reality get beaten by the public.”
Reacting to the Road Minister’s statement, the Madhya Pradesh Congress tweeted that if it is really hinting at Modi’s responsibility, then the people will surely seek answers.
Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson G.V.L. Narasimha Rao, however, said that Gadkari was criticizing Congress president Rahul Gandhi, not the Prime Minister.
It may be recalled that Gadkari has been making statements often dubbed as a criticism of Modi. In the wake of the BJP’s losses in the Assembly elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, he had said, “The leadership should own up to defeat and failures.”
