Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has launched her campaign with a mega road show along with her brother and Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Member of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia. It started from the Amausi Airport in Lucknow. This is her first visit to the state after being appointed as the party’s general secretary in charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Hundreds of Congress supporters waved at Priyanka as soon as she arrived at the UP capital. "Tomorrow, I hope that we can all come together to bring about a new kind of politics. A kind of politics in which all of you will be stakeholders. A kind of politics in which the voice of my youth friends, my sisters and the poorest of the poor will be heard," Priyanka said to supporters through the party's Shakti App.
To welcome Priyanka, Congress workers put up posters and banners at 14 different points on the highway. In order to ensure public attention, parties from neighbouring districts were called.

In eastern UP, the last by-elections of 2018, at Gorakhpur and Phulpur, proved disastrous for the party. Its candidates managed to bring only 19,000 votes each, that is, about 2 per cent vote share in each constituency.
Priyanka will camp in Lucknow for the next four days. She is likely to attend meetings in specific constituencies of the 40-odd Lok Sabha seats that she is in charge of. Meanwhile the Congress leaders announced just an hour before the Lucknow road show that Priyanka had created a Twitter account, her handle being @priyankagandhi. It acquired thousands of followers within minutes.
