IAS officer Saket Kumar was appointed as private secretary to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday

Mr Saket Kumar's  appointment has been approved till July, 2023, by the competent authority, said an order issued by the Personnel Ministry. He is an IAS Officer of 2009 batch of Bihar Cadre.

Saket Kumar was appointed as Personal Secretary (PS) to Manoj Sinha last year, who was the MoS (Independent Charge) for Communications and MoS Railways at that time. He belongs to Madhbani district in Bihar. His father was a professor in a college in Madhubani. He did his schooling from Don Bosco, Madhubani and Model School, Delhi. He did his Graduation and Post Graduation from Hindu College, Delhi.  Saket had topped the IAS Examinations in the second attempt itself. 

Saket Kumar had attained 13th rank in the UPSC Examinations. He was posted as DDC in Samastipur and SDO in Vaishali in Bihar. Kumar was also the District Magistrate in Khagaria and Banka districts.

In another order, M Imkongla Jamir was appointed Personal SecretaryPersonal Secretary to Textiles and Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani till July 22, 2020, which happens to be the balance period of five years as private secretary to a minister. Mr Jamir is a 2002-batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre and was in 2015 appointed as PS to Irani, who was then the Human Resource Development Minister.

Bureaucrat Ashish Kumar has been appointed as private secretary to Union Minister Jitendra Singh, for the balance period of four years, till August 27, 2021.
