TMC reshuffle: Abhishek Banerjee made national general secretary

The decision was taken during the first meeting of the TMC's working committee following the party's landslide victory in the recently-concluded West Bengal Assembly Election

In a major organisational reshuffle, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday appointed MP Abhishek Banerjee as the party's national general secretary. Lok Sabha MP from Diamond Harbour, Abhishek Banerjee is the nephew of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

The decision was taken during the first meeting of the TMC's working committee following the party's landslide victory in the recently-concluded West Bengal Assembly Election. The Trinamool Congress has decided to expand its organisational footprint beyond West Bengal, said West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee.

TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has been appointed as the president of the party's Mahila Morcha, while MP Dola Sen is now the national president of the Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC).
