Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take his oath of office today, along with his ministers, for the second consecutive term at the Rashtrapati Bhawan after his party BJP witnessed a massive victory in the recently-concluded national elections. PM Modi and his council of minister will be administered the oath by President Ram Nath Kovind. The dazzling oath-taking event will be held at the presidential palace Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7 pm and will be attended by world leaders, celebrities and politicians.

Ahead of the glittering swearing-in ceremony, PM Modi visited the memorials of Mahatma Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, where he paid tributes to the late leaders.

A record number of 8,000 guests are likely to attend PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony. The guest list includes heads of several neighboring countries, chief ministers of most of the states and Bollywood stars. The families of BJP workers who were allegedly killed in political violence in West Bengal in the last one year have also been invited to the ceremony. So far as the Opposition is concerned, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi are among other attendees.

Hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's oath ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the government's media department put out advisory urging journalists to wear hats and sunglasses to prepare for "a long summer evening". A communication sent from the PM's Publicity and Reference Unit said: "We are preparing ourselves for a long summer evening. So, it will be better if you carry hat and sunglasses."

Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma told news agency ANI today that Delhi Police has made elaborate arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony. "Today we have three-layer security arrangements; the first layer is of VIP security as well as Rashtrapati Bhawan, followed by a layer of Delhi Police.
