Three die after flash flood in Andhra's Kadapa

Heavy rain lashed Andhra Pradesh as a depression over the Bay of Bengal crossed the coast between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh early on Friday

At least three people died and 30 others are missing following a flash flood in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh on Friday. Several villages were inundated after a dam breach led to the overflowing of the Cheyyeru river. The Swami Ananda Temple in Nandalur was also submerged.

Heavy rain lashed Andhra Pradesh as a depression over the Bay of Bengal crossed the coast between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh early on Friday.

The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall in most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

Massive floods in Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, left hundreds of pilgrims stranded. The four streets adjoining the main temple in the Tirumala Hills remained flooded. Videos showed people trying to wade through floodwaters to reach higher ground.

Many trees on Tirumala Hills were uprooted, leading to the closure of the road to places like Papavinasanam and Srivari Paadalu.
