Senior journalist, thinker, intellectual, author and international affairs expert Dr. Ved Pratap Vaidik was cremated with full devotion at Lodhi Road crematorium, New Delhi. Politicians, journalists, intellectuals, social workers, officers, Hindi lovers and other dignitaries who arrived from all over the country bid him last farewell with moist eyes.

The funeral was done with full religious rituals and Vedic chants in the midst of a huge crowd. Dr Vaidik had died suddenly on the morning of March 14 at the age of 79 due to cardiac arrest.

Former Union Minister Dr. Harshvardhan, Mr. Jagmohan, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale and Prahlad Patel, senior BJP leaders Kailash Vijayvargiya, Vijay Goel and Sushil Modi and senior Congress leaders Pawan Bansal, Janardan Dwivedi, Naveen Jindal, Santosh Bagrodia and Mohan Prakash, JD(U) politician KC Tyagi, former Ambassador Mr. Lakhan Malhotra, pioneer of Brahmin Samaj Pandit Mangeram Sharma mainly came to console the family members during this tough time.

Apart from Sudheendra Kulkarni who was close to former Prime Minister Late Sh Atal Vihari Vajpayee, Ashok Tandon, Journalist Harishankar Vyas, Litterateur J.S. Rajput, Satirist-poet Surendra Sharma, Social worker Jai Bhagwan Goyal, MLA Chetanya Kashyap, many prominent personalities and social workers were present at the time of the funeral.
