Ban on slaughterhouses: The basic question?

It is not written in any scripture – Bible, Quran, Zindavasta, Guru Granth Sahib, Vedas and Puranas that one who does not eat meat will be called a lousy Jew, Christian, Muslim, Sikh or Hindu

The government of Uttarakhand had banned the abattoirs running in Haridwar. The High Court there has declared this ban illegal. Its verdict is that those who had applied for the stay, their reasoning was wrong but their point is correct.

The contention of the petitioners was that the ban on slaughterhouses violates the rights of the Muslims of Haridwar, as they are non-vegetarian. This is a case of injustice done to minorities.
The court has rejected this argument. It has said that 72 percent of the people of Uttarakhand, including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians, are non-vegetarians. So it is not just a matter of minorities. This is a matter of human rights.

Every person has his own right to decide for himself what he will eat. What right does the court or the government has to forbid anyone from eating non-vegetarian or vegetarian food? This decision of the court is absolutely right from the legal point of view, but there are two arguments related to this issue, which can be noted.

First, Haridwar is considered a holy place for Hindus. Therefore, the demand that slaughterhouses should be closed there seems natural. If meat will not be sold there, then even cows, pigs, sheep and goats will not be sold. That is, if Muslims will have trouble, then non-vegetarian Hindus will also have trouble. Of course, this step is not communal. Secondly, legal interference in these individual matters is completely wrong, but the fundamental question that must be considered is whether non-vegetarian food is healthy for humans?

All the scientists of the world have agreed that man's intestine and his teeth are not made for non-vegetarian food. Vegetarianism is the best for good health and longevity. It is not written in any scripture – Bible, Quran, Zindavasta, Guru Granth Sahib, Vedas and Puranas that one who does not eat meat will be called a lousy Jew, Christian, Muslim, Sikh or Hindu.

As far as the sacrifice is concerned, the real sacrifice is that of their beloved sons, but it is not necessary for those who make false sacrifices of animals that they should eat the meat of the sacrifice. Non-vegetarian food is also very harmful for the world economy and environment. Those who can weigh their tradition of food and drink on the basis of logic and science, they are automatically freeing themselves from non-vegetarian food.
