Shreyas Iyer played a calm and calculated knock of unbeaten 33 runs while Ravi Ashwin scored a crucial 20 not out to help Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets to finally book a place in the play-offs in IPL 2021. Ashwin hit a six off the first ball of the last over to help Delhi take the win.
Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Avesh Khan gave Delhi Capitals the breakthrough with the early wicket of MI captain Rohit Sharma. DC kept the pressure up on MI, never allowing the champions off the hook as Rishabh Pant was rewarded to bring on Axar Patel in the seventh over when the latter dismissed Quinton de Kock.
Avesh took another wicket, thus becoming the second DC bowler after Axar Patel to take three wickets on the day. Krunal Pandya ended things with a six off Ravichandran Ashwin off the last ball of the MI innings and eventually scoring 129 for the loss of 8 wickets which DC chased down keeping 4 wickets in hand.
