Clinical South Africa demolish Sri Lanka

The Srilankan dream of reaching the semi-final was shattered by South Africa on Friday.

Winning the toss and opting to ball first, South African bowlers ran through the Sri Lankan batting line up with some great bowling display. Sri Lankan batsmen managed to score 203 before being all out. No Sri Lankan batsman even managed a half-century. Avishka Fernando and Kusal Perera top scored with 30 each. Chris Morris and Dwaine Pretorius took 3 wickets each while Kagiso Rabada took 2.

Chasing 204 for the victory, South Africans made the total look quite easy. After loosing the early wicket of Quinton De Kock, Hashim Amla and Captain Faf Du Plesis took the South African innings forward and played some lovely strokes. Sri Lankan failed to make any impact in the match as both De Kock and Amla added unbeaten 175 for the second wicket taking the Proteas over the line. Hashim Amla scored a patient unbeaten 80 while Du Plesis was unconquered on 96.

Dwaine Pretors was adjudged Man of the Match for his superb bowling.
