IND vs ENG Test Series: Fifth Test cancelled amid Covid-19 scare

Notably, India's assistant physio Yogesh Parmar, who had been treating Indian players over the last week, had tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, forcing the visitors to cancel their training session on Thursday

The 5th and final Test of the series was cancelled hours before the start of the opening day with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirming that Team India was unable to field a team for the series finale.

Notably, India's assistant physio Yogesh Parmar, who had been treating Indian players over the last week, had tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, forcing the visitors to cancel their training session on Thursday. India players went into isolation and it emerged on Thursday evening that all the players returned negative results in the first RT-PCR tests taken earlier in the day.

India players underwent another round of Covid-19 testing for which the results are expected on Friday.

Despite the negative results in the first round of Covid-19 tests, India players were apprehensive about taking the field, considering Yogesh Parmar had treated a few of them, including Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara who had niggles after the Oval Test.
