Bangladesh Cricket Stalwart Shakib Al Hasan has been nominated for the prestigious 'Gandhi Mandela Award', to be held later this year, alongside other distinguished persons/organizations. Shakib has been a consistent performer for his country, over the years.
Shakib has scored 3862 runs in Tests and 6323 runs in ODIs and taken 210 Test and 260 ODI wickets in his career. He is one of the best all rounders in the game right now. He finished the 2019 World Cup tournament as the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh, with 606 runs in eight matches. In 2015, Shakib became the first and only cricketer in history to be ranked the 'No.1 all-rounder' by ICC in its Player Rankings in all three formats of the game (Test, Twenty20 and One Day Internationals).

In June 2019, Shakib became the fastest player to score 6,000 runs and take 250 wickets in ODIs in just 199 matches. He is also the only cricketer to score 1000 runs and to take 30 wickets in World Cup.
