The 'Dada' of Indian cricket turns 47

The man who taught Indian cricket how to win overseas, Sourav Ganguly turned 47 today.

India celebrates the birthday of one of its most successful captains ever, Sourav Ganguly. Some of the biggest achievements of Ganguly's career have been the Natwest Series win in 2002, reaching the ICC World Cup Finals in 2003 and the Test Series win against Australia in 2001-02. It was under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly that Indian team went from strength to strength.

The Dada of Indian cricket, who is appointed as the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal and President of the Editorial Board with Wisden India, was known for his fiery personality both on and off the field famously took off his jersey swinging it in the air at the balcony of Lord's after the Natwest Series win.

Former Indian opener and attacking batsman Virender Sehwag wished Ganguly in his typical sarcastic style. Sehwag tweeted, "Happy Birthday to a 56” Captain, Dada @SGanguly99! 56 inch chest, 8th day of the 7th month, 8*7 = 56 and a World Cup average of 56. #HappyBirthdayDada , May God Bless You !"
