Sri Lankan cricket legend Sanath Jayasuriya joined hands with protesters and came out in the streets to join the agitation against the Sri Lankan government.
Demonstrators from across the country arrived in buses, trains and trucks to Colombo earlier today to express outrage over the government's failure to protect them from economic ruin. Protesters shouted "Gota go home," using a common shortened version of the president's name.
Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told the party leaders that he is willing to resign as Prime Minister and make way for an all-party government to take over.
“As the Party Leaders' meeting continues, I had spoken representing the CWC where I had expressed that the President should announce his resignation and without delay the party leaders' must decide on an all party govt.
