Trump calls Pulwama attack “horrible”

The US President said, “That [the terrorist attack] was a horrible situation. We are getting reports. We will have a statement to put out.”

Describing the Pulwama attack as “horrible,” US President Donald Trump has favoured dialogue between India and Pakistan. The attack by a suicide bomber in Jammu&Kashmir left 40 CRPF personnel dead and led to escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan.

At the oval office of white house, Trump said that it would be “wonderful” if the two South Asia neighbours got along. He also added, “I have watched. I have got a lot of reports on it. We will have comment on it at an appropriate time.”

Further, the US President said, “That [the terrorist attack] was a horrible situation. We are getting reports. We will have a statement to put out.”

The US is “committed to working with India, the Indian government, and on these counterterrorism efforts, both bilaterally and multilaterally, including at the United Nations,” Robert Palladino State Department Deputy Spokesperson said.

Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, Trump's National Security Advisor John Bolton, and the White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders have asked Pakistan to instantly take action against the JeM and its leaders and end support to terrorist safe havens.

Bolton also supported India's right to self-defence.

“We urge Pakistan to fully cooperate with the investigation into the attack and to punish anyone responsible,” Palladino said. After the Pulwama attack, the US has also been in contact with Pakistan, he said.
